Making Google Adsense Work For You
These ads are called "Adsense", they are paid advertisements and can be a very lucrative income source for the person posting them on his/her website.
Whenever someone visits your website Google displays these ads wich are very targetted to your websites content. This is what its all about, since people come to your website with a specific interest Google will display ads reflecting that topic.
That means that any ad that is displayed fits the interest of the person viewing it. Since Google pays you for each clicktrough this can be very lucrative if done right. Here are just a couple of examples on how you can get the most from Adsense.
Focussing on one specific topic helps increase your clicktroughs because the ads Google displays will be extremely targetted to the topic the person is allready viewing.
For example you could make a website purely on growing flowers. People who visit your website are already interested in gardening and Google will likewise display ads on that topic.
A great tool to check wich keywords might be shown by Google on your website is http://www.about-adsense.com/adsense-web-tool.html
The more targeted Google's ads are the more clicktroughs you will get and the more you will earn.
Search for the keywords that have the highest bids and optimize your website to them.
When you setup an account at http://www.adwords.com you can use Googles keyword tool to view wich keywords pull the most visitors and how much the advertisers are paying for each click. Some keywords are as much as $100 a click think of what you earn when you optimize your website to them.
Next you optimize your sites content to these keywords, you can do this by either creating content yourself or by using other peoples content like for example articles from third parties wich you can find at for example http://www.ezinearticles.com.
Remember its all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is the more target Google's ads will be and the more clicks you will generate.
Have fun!
Google Adsense and How You Can Earn More From Adsense Ads
Google Adsense is a great and easy way to make money from your site if it is done right. Adsense will allow any person with a blog or an informative site to earn money, simply by placing a little code on their site pages. Rather than trying to figure out exactly what ads to put on their web pages, Adsense gives web site owners the ability to concentrate on their sites content.
Many webmasters are able to make a living from Adsense, however, there are also quite a few who spend all their time just trying to figure out the "magic trick" used to earn from Google Adsense. Earning a living from Google Adsense ads, can seem difficult, but it's not impossible.
If Google Adsense is going to be your only source of income, you will want to do more than just taking some Adsense code and placing it on your site. That is just not enough; you will need to do some experimenting, with placements, formats and choice of keywords.
You really should take care to build your page around a specific topic or keyword that is relevant to your site concept. This will ensure that any Adsense ads which are placed on this page are appropriate and useful to any visitors who want to know more about the topic and they will more than likely end up clicking on the Adsense ad.
You will want to take care where you place your ads. It has been proven that visitors often first look to the top left of a website when they arrive. Because this is were your visitors attention is likely to first, it is going to be one place where you might want to consider placing some ads. You can read the Google help on the Adsense website to learn more about the best locations for placing your adverts.
Another consideration when placing your ads, is to put them on high traffic pages. You can identify the pages visited most on your site by taking a look at your logs or your Google account, where you will get the page-by-page details of your visitors.
Although the skyscraper and banner ads may look good on your site, you may want to avoid using them. Often times, banners are ignored. For example, have you clicked on any banners of sites that you have visited lately?
You will want to blend your Adsense ads into your web page by using the Adsense formats. Google supplies a variety of palettes allowing you to change font colors, borders and backgrounds. There really isn't much point in putting an ad on a page if it doesn't blend with your site.
A very important resource that many webmasters ignore is the Adsense preview tool. This tool will allow you to preview the ads that will go on each of your pages and gives you sample ads and formats. Here is where the destination of your ads can be checked, as well as, geo targeted locations.
Remain focused on what it is that you want to achieve. However busy you may be, you must take some time and experiment with your Adsense ads so that CTR can improve. No matter what the experts say, just follow the basics, that's the real magic to making more from Gooogle Adsense.

Google Adsense
AdSense is an ad serving program run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image and, more recently, video advertisements on their sites. These ads are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis. Google is also currently beta-testing a cost-per-action based service.

Overview
Google uses its search technology to serve ads based on website content, the user's geographical location, and other factors. Those wanting to advertise with Google's targeted ad system may sign up through AdWords. AdSense has become a popular method of placing advertising on a website because the ads are less intrusive than most banners, and the content of the ads is often relevant to the website.
Currently, the AdSense uses JavaScript code to incorporate the advertisements into a participating site. If it is included on a site which has not yet been crawled by the Mediabot, it will temporarily display advertisements for charitable causes known as public service announcements (PSAs). (The Mediabot is a separate crawler from the Googlebot that maintains Google's search index.)
Many sites use AdSense to monetize their content and some webmasters work hard to maximize their own AdSense income. They do this in three ways:
- They use a wide range of traffic generating techniques including but not limited to online advertising.
- They build valuable content on their sites which attracts AdSense ads which pay out the most when they get clicked.
- They use copy on their websites that encourage clicks on ads. Note that Google prohibits people from using phrases like "Click on my AdSense ads" to increase click rates. Phrases accepted are "Sponsored Links" and "Advertisements".
The source of all AdSense income is the AdWords program which in turn has a complex pricing model based on a Vickrey second price auction, in that it commands an advertiser to submit a sealed bid (not observable by competitors). Additionally, for any given click received, advertisers only pay one bid increment above the second-highest bid.
History
The underlying technology behind AdSense was derived originally from WordNet and Simpli, a company started by the founder of Wordnet — George A. Miller — and a number of professors and graduate students from Brown University, including James A. Anderson, Jeff Stibel and Steve Reiss. A variation of this technology utilizing Wordnet was developed by Oingo, a small search engine company based in Santa Monica founded in 1998. Oingo focused on semantic searches rather than brute force string searches. Oingo changed its name to Applied Semantics, which was then bought by Google for $102 million in April 2003, to replace a similar system being developed in house.
AdSense for feeds
In May 2005, Google unveiled AdSense for feeds, a version of AdSense that runs on RSS and Atom feeds that have more than 100 active subscribers. According to the Official Google Blog, "advertisers have their ads placed in the most appropriate feed articles; publishers are paid for their original content; readers see relevant advertising — and in the long run, more quality feeds to choose from".
AdSense for feeds works by inserting images into a feed. When the image is displayed by the reader/browser, Google writes the ad content into the image that it returns. The ad content is chosen based on the content of the feed surrounding the image. When the user clicks the image, he or she is redirected to the advertiser's site in the same way as regular AdSense ads.
AdSense for search
A companion to the regular AdSense program, AdSense for search lets website owners place Google search boxes on their pages. When a user searches the web or the site with the search box, Google shares any ad revenue it makes from those searches with the site owner. However, only if the ads on the page are clicked, the publisher is paid. Adsense does not pay publishers for mere searches.
XHTML Compatibility
As of September 2007, the HTML code for the AdSense search box does not validate as XHTML, and does not follow modern principles of website design:
- non-standard closing tags such as </img> and </input>
- the boolean (minimized) attribute checked rather than checked="checked"
- presentational attributes other than id, class, or style, such as bgcolor and align
- a table structure used for purely presentational (non-tabular) purposes
- the font tag
In addition, the Adsense ad units use the document.write() Javascript code, which does not work in browsers when rendered with the application/xhtml+xml MIME Type. The units also use the <iframe> HTML tag, which is not validated correctly with the Strict or Transitional doctypes.
The terms of the AdSense program forbid their affiliates from modifying the code, thus preventing these participants from having validated XHTML websites.
How AdSense works
Each time a visitor visits a page with an AdSense tag, a piece of JavaScript writes an iframe tag, whose "src" attribute includes the URL of the page.
For contextual advertisements, Google's servers use a cache of the page for the URL or the keywords in the URL itself to determine a set of high-value keywords. (Some of the details are described in the AdSense patent). If keywords have been cached already, ads are served for those keywords based on the AdWords bidding system.
For Site targeted ads, the advertiser can choose the page or sites it wants to display ads on and pays on a CPM basis (cost per thousand impressions).
For referrals, Google manages the subscriptions on a long term, to add money when the visitors either download the product of subscribe, that depend upon the sort of product.
For search, advertisements are added to the list of results and clicks on them make money.
To protect webmasters from bad use of their code, it is possible for them in the configuration panel to make a list of websites where advertisements are published. When other sites use their JavaScript code, clicks on ads are ignored.
Abuse
Some webmasters create sites tailored to lure searchers from Google and other engines onto their AdSense site to make money from clicks. These "zombie" sites often contain nothing but a large amount of interconnected, automated content (e.g.: A directory with content from the Open Directory Project, or scraper sites relying on RSS feeds for content). Possibly the most popular form of such "AdSense farms" are splogs ("spam blogs"), which are centered around known high-paying keywords. Many of these sites use content from other web sites, such as Wikipedia, to attract visitors. These and related approaches are considered to be search engine spam and can be reported to Google.
MFA (Made For Adsense) is a site or page with little or no content, but filled with advertisements so users have no choice but to click on ads. Such pages were tolerated in the past, but due to complaints Google now disables such accounts.
There have also been reports of Trojans engineered to produce fake Google ads that are formatted to look like legitimate ones. The Trojan Horse apparently downloads itself onto an unsuspecting computer through a web page and then replaces the original ads with its own set of malicious ads.
Criticism
Due to concerns about click fraud, Google AdSense has been criticized by some search engine optimization firms as a large source of what Google calls "invalid clicks" in which one company clicks on a rival's search engine ads to drive up its costs. Some publishers have been blocked by Google, complaining that little justification or transparency was provided. Webmasters who publish Adsense can receive a lifelong ban without justification.[citation needed] Google claims they cannot "disclose any specific details" on clicks since it may reveal the nature of their proprietary click fraud monitoring system.
To help prevent click fraud, publishers of AdWords can choose from a number of click tracking programs. These programs will display detailed information about the visitors who click on the AdSense advertisements. Publishers can use that data to determine if they've been a victim of click fraud or not. There are a number of commercial tracking scripts available for purchase.
The payment terms for webmasters have also been criticized. Google withholds payment until an account reaches US$100, but many small content providers require a long time —- years in many cases —- to build up this much AdSense revenue. These pending payments are recorded on Google's balance sheet as "accrued revenue share". At the close of its 2006 fiscal year, the sum of all these small debts amounted to a little over US $370 million - cash that Google is able to invest but which effectively belongs to webmasters. However, Google will pay all earned revenue, even if smaller than 100 dollars, when the Adsense account is closed.
Google came recently under fire after the official Google AdSense Blog showcased the French video-site Imineo.com that clearly violates Google’s AdSense Program Policies by displaying AdSense near explicit adult content while other site owners were banned for showing adult content.
You May Be Paying Too Much for Your Adwords
You are in effect participating in an auction where the item traded is your position in a list. Such bidding is in many ways similar to auctions performed in auction houses where everything from antiques, books, cars etc may be traded.
The term “curse of auctions” has been around for some time and concerns the proposition that a buyer at an auction purchases an item for a price exceeding the value of the item because some bidders do not know the real value of the item being traded.
The theory is that if all the bidders for an item know the real value of that item, then the item will be sold at this real value. This is because the bidders will bid until this real value is reached. No one will bid any higher. In order for the bid to reach the real value, at least two bidders must know the real value.
If there is only one bidder who knows the real value and all other bidders estimates the value of the item to be lower than it actually is, then the winning bid may be below the real value of the item. In this case, the bidder makes a good deal since the price paid is below the value of the item.
If however there are bidders who overestimate the value of an item, then these bidders will make bids above the real value of the item. For the bidder who knows the real value, this is a lose-lose situation. If the bidder only bids until the real value of the item is reached, then the bidder will be outbid by the less well informed bidders. This means that the bidder must either not purchase the item or he or she will have to pay a too high price for it. This lose-lose situation is meant by the “curse of auctions”.
In the world of online advertising and sponsored links, the “curse of auctions” may result in the price paid for some keywords to be too high. If you participate in such an auction and bid against novices who are not well informed, then your choice may well be to either not win the auction or pay a price you know is too high.
The above description is a simplified version of the world of bidding for keywords for sponsored links. The primary reason for this is that different keywords have different values for different websites. Amongst other factors, this value depends on the revenue generated per click on the sponsored this. And this revenue obviously depends on the quality of what website to which the user is directed when clicking the link.
Bids for certain keywords vary very much from search engine to search engine. Generally speaking, Google is the most expensive. MSN, Yahoo! and smaller search engines often have much lower bids for the same keywords and so can be much more profitable for you. Smaller search engines generate less traffic, but as long as they generate profits for you, they are worth using.
If you are a website administrator and make you of sponsored links, you should determine if what you are bidding for keywords represents a fair value. If not, you should lower your bids.
7 Ways To Optimize Adsense Legally
PLEASE NOTE: Though adsense may have originated with Google's system, there are many other adsense-type programs available, all of which are as viable -- some even more so -- as theirs. The information included here applies to most of them.
While everyone else is busy optimizing for search engines, by optimizing for adsense, a site can feasibly pull enough traffic that simply clicks on the ads to forget about other forms of sales.
However, bear in mind that most adsense TOS agreements prevent any unfair or "fraudulent" clicking, even so much as a note saying, "click here to support this site," which risks banishment by most adsense companies. This, of course, is to protect those adwords customers who pay to have their ads displayed. It is they who are robbed (not the companies) when an ad is clicked irresponsibly. Furthermore Google, for one, can track clicks effectively enough to detect any artificial or irresponsible clicking will garner any income received this way.
With that in mind, by understanding how adsense-type programs work, one can optimize a page, legally, to create a substantial income. And while guidelines are designed primarily focused on adsense, many of these strategies will increase a sites' general revenue as well.
1. TOP SEARCHES
The first step is to design a site around the top searches. There are various tools (keyword selectors and zeitgeist, for example) that help gather this information. Of course, there is also the "niche marketing" school of thought, i.e., to find a smaller group that has less page-per-click competition. In this case, the ideal is to find a large audience-small page ratio. But after more than a year of marketers scouring the web for them, finding one is rare and searching for one can take a LOT of time. Not hours or days, but weeks or months.
2. HIGHEST PAYING KEYWORDS
Lists of these can be found simply by searching the internet. Of course combining the highest paying adsense keywords with Top Searches may make a very strange mix. Afterall, the top search (at the time of this writing) is Britney Spears while the top-paying words relate to mesothelioma and asbestos cancer. So, unless Britney Spears speaks out on mesothelioma, there's little chance these could be combined legally*. But, by looking down the lists there are more feasible combinations. The main thing to understand is it's only a combination of the two (high-paying keywords & top searches) that will bring enough traffic to garner any measurable LEGAL income from adsense.
3. PLACES, PLEASE
Placing the ads prominently on the site is a no-brainer, though some marketers still tend to hide them toward the bottom of the site. Another TOS factor, too, is a content-to-ad ratio that adsense programs used to insist on, but seem to be slipping. Generally the policy was no more than two banner ads per page though many sites that end up at the top of searches seem to flaunt this rule. But who knows how long they last, too. Traditionally, putting one banner across the top, just below the title, and one "skyscraper" down one side, with content in the middle is the best.
4. MULTI-PAGE IT
One pase allows for 2 ads, but more ads can be placed on each additional page on the site. For those lacking ideas for additional pages, the simplest page would be a separate contact page, as well as an "about us" or testimonial page, all of which are viable additions.
Incidently, it's ironic that so many marketers create mile-long splash pages rather than a group of pages and never add one adsense ad to them. As if, by doing this, it will garner more sales, when the truth is, they sacrifice as much as gain because these pages are rarely indexed and annoy visitors as many as they attract, simply because of their set up. Understand this: adsense is a way to profit from EXIT traffic, something that WILL occur at one point or another, no matter how wonderful the page.
5. HIGHLIGHT OR BLEND
Some prefer the adsense to blend into their site, almost hiding it from visitors. But this diminishes its effectiveness. Rather, by highlighting it, visitors will be more aware of it, allowing it to stand out. Of course, we'd all prefer our visitors to stay at OUR site, buy OUR product, etc. But the fact is, many won't. Isn't it better to gain something from their departure?
6. ADSEARCH
This feature is only available from some of the larger adsense programs. If it is available, placing it at the bottom of a page offers the visitor the convenience of doing a search without having to first go to the SE. Of course, many SEs and browsers offer toolbars that diminish the effectiveness of this. But adding it will create another exit point that is to your advantage-- and seems like a service, too.
7. AFRAID OF COMPETITION?
Some adsense programs offer a "block competition" option, one in which specific sites may be barred. However, to believe it's possible to effectively block ALL your competition is naive. Though it may at first seem outrageious to help advertise for the competition, again, at least one will gain from their advertisement (and, for those who need payback remember: the competition is paying you).
Each of these strategies increase a site's adsense revenue. By using all of them, the adsense ads will create a steady revenue stream which will increase with the site's traffic stream.--mo
Top Paying Keywords: How To Increase Your Pay Per Click Returns - From Make money with AdSense - PPC and More
There have been many sites that promote Top Paying Keywords and how if you add these keywords you can instantly improve your Adsense revenue. However, if you really want to see a dramatic increase in pay per clicks, you need to ensure 2 very important areas are addressed. They seem very obvious, but many site owners miss the opportunity to attract higher paying ads simply because they ignore these two areas.
Optimization
Many "would be" web designers decide to build a site around the highest paying keywords, yet, forget to optimize their site around a specific keyword. Instead, they forget the basics of how to properly create a title tag, page description, keyword density and having clean search engine spider friendly code.
Remember, its the source code that the Adsense and Kanoodle programs are using to decide what ads will appear. If your top 2 keywords are "insurance" and "downloads", you may find that you end up with ads regarding "insurance downloads" which of course will not pay much.
Also, having a high keyword density score for the keyword can get you into trouble with the search engines (specifically Google). Keywords spamming is never a good idea. Optimize your page and you will search more hits to that page and not confuse the bots that create the ads for you.
Content
This is by far the most important and most missed tips. If you are going to include top paying keywords on your site, remember, if you want to attract high paying ads, you need to be selling your visitor on what your advertiser wants. Your content should sell to the visitors needs. Why should your visitor consider car insurance? What are the benefits of car insurance? Where can they get the best quotes? If you pique the interest of your visitor, they are more likely to click on your ads than if they feel that they are not getting the information they came to your site for in the first place.
Your content should have a specific flow to it. If you start jamming keywords into your content, your visitor will automatically suspect that you are trying to deceive them. Once you do that, they are gone! Why waste your visitors time after working so hard to get them to your site in the first place?
Well optimized, focused content will always produce better, higher paying ads. That is why you are a publisher: you want those high paying ads on your site. What use though are those high paying keywords if your content doesn't pique your visitors curiosity? Be passionate about your content, and the click through rates will skyrocket!
How To Add Photos To Your Google Adsense Ads
Increasing your CTR (Click Through Ratio) is as easy as adding a few pictures above your ads. Here is how to do it:
I will assume that you have an Adsense account. If not, hop on over to Google to get one – it is FREE. I also have to assume that you know a little bit about making changes to your web pages. Making the changes to the Adsense ad is as easy as “Copy and Paste.”
Here is the code:
[table cellspacing="0" width="728" border="0" cellspadding="0"] [tbody][tr] [td width="182"][img src="X" /][/td] [td width="182"][img src="X" /][/td] [td width="182"][img src="X" /][/td] [td width="182"][img src="X" /][/td] [/tr] [tr] [td colspan="4"] GOOGLE AD CODE HERE 728x90 [/td] [/tr] [/tbody] [/table]
First thing to do is replace the brackets [] with less than/greater than symbols <>. “Find and Replace” in Word or Notepad is the easiest way to do this.
Then you will have to change “X” to the location of your pictures – so it will look something like
/images/abc.jpg or domainname.com/foldername/picturename. This is where you have uploaded your 4 pictures. I recommend you resize them to 140X100 before you upload them. Use pictures that are related to your ads. Make sure that you don’t violate any copyright laws.
You will also have to replace the line “GOOGLE AD CODE HERE 728x90” with your Google Adsense code for a 728X90 Leaderboard. You can get this code at the Adsense content page. Tweak it a little to get the link, text, background, and border colors the way you want them and that should do it.
You can also do this for different size ads – experiment a little bit – but the main idea is to attract attention to your ads to get additional clicks.

5 Ways To Improve Your Adsense Earnings
Here are some 5 proven ways on how best to improve your Adsense earnings.
1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format have the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.
2. Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.
3. Remove the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top. Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.
4. Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.
5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as "adsense text", and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.
These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.
Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.
Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too. Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring. If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.
Ad Sense com
Use PHP and Adsense to Really Enhance Your Site
For those of you out there with web pages containing a lot of JavaScript you can do a simple operation that will not only help your search engine ranking, but allow you to easily customize your Adsense or other JavaScript ads. This simple operation is known as a "server-side include."
First, let's talk about how server-side includes can optimize your web pages. Search engines, like Google, take into consideration the HTML to script ratio of your pages when ranking them in their listings. So if your page has as much JavaScript as HTML you are more likely to be ranked under a page that contains no JavaScript.
Now, most of you know that JavaScript is what most advertisements are written in. Google's Adsense is a primary example. Let's take a look at an ad:
<script type="text/javascript">
<! -
google_ad_client = "pub-111111111111111";
google_ad_width = 120;
google_ad_height = 600;
google_ad_format = "120x600_as";
google_ad_type = "text_image";
google_ad_channel ="";
google_color_border = "FFFFFF";
google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
google_color_link = "000000";
google_color_text = "000000";
google_color_url = "000000";
// - >
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
Google allows you to have up to three of these ads on each page. That can be a lot of JavaScript if your page doesn't have that much content. Also, if you're using feeds to automatically populate your pages with content, then your templates (web pages) are even more laden with script.
We want Google to look kindly on our page and rank it as high as possible. So what can you do? Well, you could get rid of all your ads and feeds… Not going to happen? Hmm… If only there were some way to make the search engines think that we didn't have any JavaScript on our page but yet still keep the JavaScript… I have good news for you; there is an easy way you can do this. You guessed it. We can do it with the wonderful server-side include operation! How exciting!
If you do not know, a sever side include is when a server automatically plugs in the code (JavaScript, HTML, whatever it may be) into the HTML document whenever the client (a person at a computer browsing the web) accesses the page. Thus, when various search engine spider programs riffle through your HTML document they do not see any JavaScript!
So where does this JavaScript hide? In a separate document of course. I have a separate document for each type of Google add. I keep them in a separate folder on my server for organization.
With a server-side include you can create HTML documents and add one line of code to them to pull all the code stored in these files and place it in the HTML document whenever a page is requested by a client. However, search engine spider programs used to rank pages only see the raw HTML of the template; they cannot see what will be included after our server performs the server-side include.
To do a server-side include you must use a server-side scripting language like PHP, Coldfusion, or ASP.net. The best language to use is PHP (PHP is a recursive acronym that stands for hypertext pre processor). Coldfusion costs a ton of money and ASP.net only works well with Microsoft's SQL server. There are several sites on the web that offer free PHP tutorials. You can also find ColdFusion tutorials, ASP.net tutorials as well. For our needs we only need to use one small line of PHP code. Feel free to Google around for more tutorials, you have my permission.
Before we go further you should note that your web host needs to have PHP capabilities enabled. iPower, the host I am currently using, allows me to use PHP. If you still need to choose a web hosting company I have an excellent review of the top three web hosting companies (these three all have PHP enabled on their servers) on my website. Click HERE to read it. Alright, I'm assuming you have chosen a web host. If you had chosen one a while ago and you'd like to change after reading my article you might be able. Most companies offer a 30 or 60 day money back guarantee.
Here are the steps to performing server-side includes:
Step One
You need to place your JavaScript code in a separate document. Just cut and paste it into a new text pad document and save it as some relevant name. BUT, we must modify the extension from .txt to .php. For those of you who have Windows you may not be able to modify the extension. You can fix this by opening up any folder selecting "tools" from the menu and then selecting "folder options." Next select the "view" tab and then look for the check box with the words "Hide known extension types" and uncheck it. Hit apply and then close the window. I hate when windows hides the extension types because you cannot modify them easily. After this is done simply rename the file with a .php at the end.
Step Two
Where you cut the JavaScript or other code out you'll need to place an include statement that will tell the sever to insert all the code in the php file you just made in step one. Here is what the code looks like in PHP:
This code will tell the server to open the ad_format.php file and copy everything in it into our html document. When you use this code, simply replace ad_format.php with your own php file name.
Whenever I have a skyscraper Adsense ad, I put a php statement that looks like this:
<? php include("skyscraper.php"); ?>
I keep the skyscraper code saved in a separate document. This saves me a ton of time and effort because all I put in is one line of code for each ad. I have a mesothelioma page with two skyscraper adsense ads that put in by a server side include. Mesothelioma is a great adsense subject as it pays you upwards of $50 per click. Click here to see my page. (You can copy my article and use it on your own site, just give me a link back!)
Step Three
Every page that uses PHP you'll need to modify its extension from .html or .htm to .php. So all of your html pages need to be modified to have a .php extension. And if you're using ASP or Coldfusion you'll need to change them as well to .cfm or .asp. I changed my articles.html to articles.php.
Step Four
Every Google Adsense ad has the same formatting code. That is, the code that determines the color of the ad elements or the type of ad is the same for each ad. So, we can take advantage of this using PHP. What if you could change one line of code and modify every Adsense ad in your site? You could experiment with all kinds of colors and images to see which combination yielded the most clicks.
To do this is easy. Simply include a PHP include in the file where you stored your Adsense code. You are going to cut out the formatting code and store it in a separate php file. After this is done It will look something like this:
The ad_format.php file will then contain all the following code you just cut out:
google_ad_type = "text_image";
google_ad_channel ="";
google_color_border = "FFFFFF";
google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
google_color_link = "000000";
google_color_text = "000000";
google_color_url = "000000";
When you want to modify the ad, simply alter the code in your ad_format.php file, upload it to your server and voilà ; every ad in your site changes. If you don't know how to modify colors in HTML I suggest you go through a few HTML tutorials. Don't worry, it is incredibly easy. So go ahead, experiment and play different tricks with the PHP includes to further simplify the process of customizing your ads.
Increase Your Web Page Conversion with Conversion Rate Optimization
About Conversion Rate Optimization:
Conversion Rate Optimization is the continual process of making your Web Site and landing pages generate better results from your visitor traffic. For example, more leads, opt-ins, and more sales.
Conversion Rate Optimization is also the fastest and easiest strategy to increase your sales without spending more money on increasing your traffic.
In fact, the most successful companies test everything. For example, GoToMyPC.com increased their conversion rates by 400% by testing the following…
- Headlines - Call to Action - Copy - Images - Graphics - Button Look - Button Text - Button Location - No Links - Press Quotes - Testimonials - Pricing - Flow Through Process - And more
Optimizing Your Landing Page’s "Conversion Funnel"
If you review your web site statistics (called “log files”) you’ll notice the following 4 things are happening on your landing pages…
The largest percentage of your visitors are bailing within 0-8 seconds after briefly viewing your landing page.
The second largest percentage of visitors bail when they decide your landing page does not prove compelling.
A small percentage of visitors attempt to convert (buy or use a contact form to become a lead) but fail. Many of these people will call.
A small percentage of visitors convert.
Conversion rate optimization is the process of optimizing your landing pages to minimize your "bail out rate" and maximize your "conversion rate" (CR).
The Top 6 Landing Page Components To Optimize for Maximizing Your Conversions
The following are the top 6 conversion components that should be tested and improved to boost your conversion rates…
Headline - Since your headline is the first line that your visitors will read, the headline of your web page offers the biggest opportunity (about 80% of the opportunity) for improvements in conversion rate. Use headlines that clearly state the biggest benefit(s) that your product offers.
Offer - Since your offer is the “call to action” that asks your visitors to act (purchase, sign up, opt-in), your offer accounts for the second the biggest opportunity for improvements in conversion rate.
Lead - The “lead” or first paragraph is the third biggest opportunity for improvements in your conversion rate. Leads must be written with strong benefits that capture your visitor’s attention and make them want to read more.
Benefits - The “benefit bullets” (bullet-point format) are the forth biggest opportunity for improvements in conversion rate. List your benefits in the order of your product’s “value hierarchy” to your target market. In other words, state your product’s strongest benefit first, and its weakest benefit last.
Images - The images you use have a big impact on your conversion rates. The best practice is to use images that clearly portray the biggest benefit your product offers your customer (rather than generic "feel good" stuff like unknown logos and clip art). Studies show that product images work best when placed to the left of your product description (or lead paragraph) since it makes it easier to read your copy from left to right. Plus, people like to reads “captions” under your images almost as much as they read your headlines. So, add powerful captions and make your images clickable to the order/sign up page.
"Look & Feel" - According to a recent study by Stanford University, 46% of Web sales are lost on web sites that lack the critical elements that build value and trust with website visitors. The number one reason the people indicated why they wouldn't buy from a web site was because it had an unprofessional "look and feel" that lacked credibility and did not "feel" trustworthy. Having a professional look, and trust building tools (such as VeriSign and BBBOnline certifications) help convert significantly more of your web site's qualified visitors into new customers.
Other Important Conversion Elements to test:
- Buttons – Button text, color, look, etc. - Pricing - Formatting and placement of page elements, images and copy - Navigation links versus no navigation links - Press Quotes - Testimonials
Other Conversion Best Practices and Tips:
- Reduce your “bail out” rate by optimizing your web pages to download within 5 seconds on a 56k modem – Test your pages on Andy King’s "Web Page Analyzer" websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ - Add a 1-800-Number and Call to Action above the fold (top of the page)
- Add a Logo and a powerful “Value Proposition” to the top left - Instead of letting visitors click off your landing page, put all your information on one page (This tactic alone increased the conversions of a landing page by 55%) - Use colors that fit your target customer’s personality
Conclusion:
When you use “Conversion Rate Optimization” to test and improve your web pages and landing pages you can double your sales (possibly even quadruple) when you add up all the performance improvements. Of course it takes time and work but it's well worth the effort.
If you’re truly serious about maximizing your results, continuously test, track and improve the important elements of your web site, landing pages (and your marketing materials).

How to Double Your Online Sales Without Spending Another Dime on Advertising
FACT: "50% of Visitors are LOST because visitors can't easily find content" - Gartner Group FACT: "40% of Repeat Visitors are LOST from negative experience" - Zona Research FACT: "85% of Visitors ABANDON a new site due to poor design" - cPulse FACT: 70% of people who are ready, willing and able to buy online - don't complete the sale.
Just imagine, if you can improve your web site's conversion rate, you have the potential to increase your sales by over 233%. And you can do it without spending any more on advertising, or bringing any more traffic to your site.
Knowing how to increase your site's conversion of visitors into buyers can skyrocket your sales with the same exact amount of traffic you have now.
So how do you convert more of the visitors to your site into buyers? One of the most important ways to increase your site's conversion rate is to improve your site's copy.
The purpose of the copy on your web site is to explain to a visitor how your product will fulfill their wants and desires. Notice I said "wants and desires", not "needs".
It's important to realize that people primarily buy based on what they want, not what they need. The first step in improving your web site's copy is to understand the wants and desires of your customers.
Next, make sure your copy is focusing on providing solutions to problems that are important to your customers. Review your copy and be sure it mainly talks about the benefits the customer will get by buying your product, and not about your product' s features.
A feature is what your product does. A benefit is want your product does FOR your customer. You customer is only interested in what your product is going to do to make their life better.
Be sure that your copy focuses on your customer instead of on you and your company. Your site's copy should talk about "you" and "your", instead of "me", "my" and "our". Your customer is interested in themself, not you or your company.
Your sales copy needs to:
1) Grab the visitor's attention with a powerful headline 2) Draw the reader's interest by creating a connection between their problem or desire and your solution 3) Peak their Desire by making an emotionally compelling & believable case for your product 4) Motivate the reader to take action and fulfill their wants by their purchasing your product or service.
Online or offline, conversion is the key to business success. Your copy is your site's salesperson. On the Web, improving your copy is the first step to doubling your sales without spending another dime on advertising.

So, what is social bookmarking? What is social bookmarking's purpose? Why is social bookmarking important to internet marketers?
What is Social Bookmarking? You are probably already familiar with bookmarking web sites, that you want to visit again, using your Internet Explorer or Firefox web browser. The bookmarks you create to these sites are for your personal use and are stored on your computer.
Social Bookmarking is the next step in bookmarking, where you and others can share bookmarks to web sites you think may be of interest to others. This is done via Social Bookmarking services. After you have signed up for the Social Bookmarking service, you will be allowed to register a website, site description and tags (keywords) with the service - this is a bookmark. You will also be allowed to share this bookmark, or you can keep it private (depending on the service). This information is stored by the Social Bookmarking service, and is not stored on your computer.
What is Social Bookmarking's Purpose? There are really two major purposes behind social bookmarking.
1. The main purpose of social bookmarking is to have people with like interests bookmarks sites that they think would be useful, or interesting, to others who have the same interests. For example, I love fly fishing. Let's say I find a site that contains some great custom-built fly fishing rods for an inexpensive price. I would bookmark that site with one of several possible bookmarking services. I would give the site I'm bookmarking a title, a description and tags (keywords) related to inexpensive custom built fly fishing rods. I would make sure the bookmark is set to public so others could find it, and would then have have created a social bookmark.
Now when people search the social bookmarking service, using the tag words used to define the bookmarked sites, they are presented with a list of related sites. Using our fly fishing example above - When someone searches for "fly fishing rods" they would be given a list of related sites, including the custom fly fishing rod site we bookmarked. Most bookmarking services also have a rating system so the most popular sites are at the top of the list.
2. Another great benefit of social bookmarking is, once you have social bookmarked your favorite sites, you can easily find those bookmarked sites from any computer connected to the internet. You simply log into the online social bookmarking service and find the website you bookmarked. This can be very helpful if you have many websites you like to monitor, when you are away from home and you are not at your primary computer.
Why is social bookmarking important to internet marketers? Since social bookmarking sites are generally very popular sites that get a lot of traffic, they have high Google page ranks and are visited often by search engines. Submitting your site to the social bookmarking services, increases the chance your site will be crawled by the search engines. I have seen my sites crawled by Google only one day after registering my site to social bookmarking services.
Submitting to social bookmarking services is also a great way to get one way, incoming, high page rank links coming to your website which helps increase your page rank.
But most importantly, if your website is seen as having value to a group of people, your bookmark can be rated highly and can create a ton of very targeted traffic to your website.
Social bookmarking is growing at a phenomenal rate and if you want to market on the internet, you need to add social bookmarking to your set of internet marketing tools.
Get Personal: Custom Adsense Keyword Lists - For Making Money with AdSense - PPC and More
However, further down the list, the topics get more varied, and that is where the keyword list gets interesting, and several potential themes for a new site pop up.
However, what if your site already enjoys traffic and has a theme already in place?
What you need is a customized keyword list. Need new content ideas? These custom keyword lists help direct successful sites towards keywords that are both popular and are higher paying.
For one of my clients, it was simply a matter of exchanging the word investor with the word trader which made all the difference. They created a whole section on foreign exchange trading, as well as technical analysis to target higher paying keywords, and directed their current high level of traffic to that part of the site. As a result, the site enjoyed an increase in page views and adsense revenue.
If you have a successful site, a keyword list of 50 000 keywords wont help you target new and original content like a list of 500 keywords that are specific to your sites theme.
Its not surprising that insurance themed keywords are the highest paying. There is a lot of money to be made insuring people.
However, with competition so fierce, unless you have a large advertising budget, you will find it difficult to drive traffic to your site. Personally, I would rather target keywords that pay even $1 and get lots of traffic, than to target a $50 keyword and get no traffic.
With that in mind, John from AdsenseHeaven told me of a client who bought a targeted keyword list about cooking. The client wasn't happy about getting what appeared to be lower paying adsense revenue. With some tweaking of their menu, the site started to target the healthy aspects of their recipes, since the custom keyword list indicated that advertisers were paying for keywords dealing with health and dieting. Almost immediately, their click through rate (CTR) went up, and more importantly, the amount per click went up.
If you have an existing site, you owe it to yourself to consider purchasing a custom keyword list. AdsenseHeaven.com (http://www.adsenseheaven.com) has a growing number of customized keyword lists. If you dont see one that goes with the theme of your site, contact them to request a customized list. You'll be surprised at the number of opportunities to increase your adsense revenue.
Secrets To Success With Google Adsense
The placement of your google adsense ad on the page is crucial to how much money you will make. It is vital that you place the ad above the fold on your page in order to get the most clicks. What this means is you want to place the ad high enough on the page that visitors do not have to scroll down to see your ad.
By placing the google adsense ad above the fold you are increasing the odds of people clicking on the ad. The reason for this is because a majority of your readers do not read your entire site or the entire page. For the most part people glance over some of the key points on the top part of the page without worrying about scrolling down. If you place the ad higher, you have a better chance to get clicks out of these types of visitors.
The way you blend the ad with the rest of your page can determine if the ad is visually appealing or not. You want to try and make your google adsense ad look less like an ad and more like your work. You can do this by making the font and color of the ad’s text similar as the text on the rest of the page. It is also recommended that you blend or mesh the background of the ad with the background of your page.
What you place around your ad can have just as much affect as the google adsense has itself for success. You want to eliminate any kind of clutter that can distract and disorient readers when they come to your page. It may seem appealing to you to place banners and pictures and text all over the page, but this is simply cluttering the page. If the page is cluttered you are increasing the chances of your visitors completely skipping over the google adsense ad altogether.
The last secret to success with google adsense is similar to your website in general. You want to pick a niche that is similar to your website and stick with that niche for all of the ads you place on your website. By selecting a niche you have a better chance for keyword optimization and targeting your readers with relevant ads to what they are searching for on your website.
It is the little things that most never even consider that can make the difference between success and failure with google adsense. If you do all of these secrets listed above and generate traffic to your website, you should have no problem having success with google adsense.
Google Adsense Bloggers Reshaping Society in a Big Way
Now, Google likes to capitalize the first "S" in Adsense, but it always looks like a mistake so most people just write "Adsense." But no matter how you spell it, "Adsense" spells out "common sense" in the minds of most people.
Simply put, Adsense is a vehicle toward a better life. It is a gateway, and the wider you open the door, the more benefits you will receive.
Dealing with the deep moralities of Adsense have been many veteran bloggers who, since 2002 or so when "blogging," or "web logging," became a popular endeavor. In web logging, people are not told what to write, when to write it, who to release it to, what web sites to publish on, or anything else. It just happens. The effects are profound.
Clever advertising executives no longer need expensive and often useless and outdated surveys to gain market knowledge. Web site owners have taken to openly inviting bloggers in the hope that these spontaneous personalities will reveal some marketing tweak that nobody else has, therefore giving their business and customers an edge.
And now the more significant bloggers out there are adopting a deeply moral, almost religious, conviction that somehow blogging is a godsend for the global economy and general goodwill as a whole.
Ace blogger Steve Pavlina simply states that he wants people to become "smarter" through blogging. Other writers are eager to share the nuances of Adsense, knowing full well such knowledge might cut in on their bonanza. But they are unimpressed with monopolizing this idea. They want it to grow because they know they will grow along with it.
Blogs are now targeted by the numbers people, statistics experts who can compute the current worth of a blog, in much the same way that a piece of real estate is valued.
Then, finally, are the elite bloggers like Darren Rowse, whose many detailed and well-edited articles on "professional blogging" have kept countless beginners from making the same time-consuming and expensive errors he made as he progressed toward the top of his pioneering field.
Bottom line: Google and the ever-expanding world of blogging are combining to redefine many of humanity's fundamental beliefs on how we should treat each other and coexist in a meaningful way, free of financial distress and open to a universe of new ideas and concepts.
Factors Affecting AdSense Ad Clickthrough Rate and Earnings Potential
Are there Any Ads? Are the Ads Relevant? Is There Any Search Volume?
If you search for Google and nobody is advertising for your targeted industry or phrase sets the opportunities to make money are going to be rather limited. The same holds true if the traffic volume is low or the bid prices are dirt. The Google Traffic Estimator Tool makes it pretty easy to get an estimate of the bid prices and AdWords click volume while the Google Keyword Tool lets you check the depth of competition quickly. You can also use Shawn's Google AdSense Sandbox to see how compelling and relevant ad offers are for a specific topic.
Signs of Desperation, Ignorance, or Stupidity
I am sure this category might get me a bit of heat, but I own one website that was getting about 400 pageviews a day about a specific topic. Adding a single page catering to some ignorant people in that vertical (one could assume a certain level of ignorance by their search queries - sorry but I can't give that term away) added 50 pageviews a day and doubled the ad clicks and earnings for the site.
Dumb or naive people are less likely to realize they are clicking paid ads when they land on your page.
What are some common signs of intelligence or lack of intelligence? Or signs of naiveness?
- topics for kids - they clearly are going to be operating on limited business experience and limited financial and business understanding, and thus may click click click without thinking anything of it. I have a site that caters to a broad field, but the page most focused on kid friendly searches has a 50% ad clickthrough rate, whereas the next best page is coming in at 18%, and the site averages around 10%.
- searching for things that do not exist - these are going to be easier to rank for than their official alternatives. These searches may be an indication of intelligence or lack of intelligence depending on vertical and query. From my limited experience, more frequently they will likely indicate a lack of intelligence, but it really depends on the reason WHY the market has yet to fill the demand.
- misspellings and misuse of language - I am a bad speller so I offer no hate here, but on average most misspelled queries come from people who are below average on the intelligence scale
- poor credit or lack of financial planning - sure we all go through ruts, but the average person looking for a payday loan is going to be less intelligent than the average person looking for a mortgage loan
- general topic - the average person searching for scientific information is going to be smarter than the average person searching for a personality on Fox News or American Idol.
- demographics - old and young people may not be clued into how the web works. Some other demographics may be more or less clued in. Many search queries may do a great deal to identify the gender, age group, or ethnicity of the searcher.
- traffic source - On average the average Google user is going to be smarter than the average MSN Search user, who is going to be smarter than the average free spyware download search accelerator searcher.
- query length and syntax - advanced search queries and specific long tail searches are most likely going to be from smarter searchers or searchers closer to purchasing.
Searches That Signify the Desire for Advertisements
Targeted buying searches and comparison searches may be searchers that are looking for just a bit more info before converting, perhaps through one of your ads.
Ad Integration
The more ads look like content the more they get clicked on. Default blue is a beautiful link color. Some people do well by placing images near their AdSense ads.
Quality and Quantity of Ad Alternatives
Content that is of amazing quality that solves the visitor's problems may make the ads look less appealing, although if it allows you to become the industry standard resource that additional distribution can more than pay for the added cost of creating real quality content.
If a page is a resource link list or has many alternative paths to leave the site outside of an ad click many people will take those paths.
Are the top SERPs dominated by real resources?
If the top results are quality informational PR7 .edu pages best of luck on the rankings front. You are going to need it ;)
If the top sites are cloaked pages or other sites that do not look like real resources it is easier to get your listing clicked on by crafting a quality page title and meta description.
Does Your Site Have Enough Authority?
If you have authority it seems you can extend it out cross topic. If you lack link authority and age related trust it is an uphill battle to compete in Google.
How Much Commitment is Required to Buy?
Buying a home is a much more extensive and expensive process than buying a treadmill.
How Web Friendly is Your Product Offering?
Ads for physical books, heavy commodities or things like diamonds (which perhaps require some amount of trust to purchase) are going to go for far less than they are worth when compared to ads for items that fit the web nearly perfectly (take software or ebooks as examples).
How I Got 70000 Useless Visitors To My Site In One Day
Is Social BookMark Traffic Useless?
First, we must make the distinction that no traffic is useless. Any visitor to your site is a good thing and should be welcomed. However, all traffic is not created equally, there are great differences in the sources of your traffic. This article takes a close analytical look at social bookmark traffic from an internet marketing perspective.
In case you haven't noticed, right now social bookmark and media sites are all the rage on the web. Social bookmark traffic comes from such popular sites as Slashdot, Digg, Stumbleupon... basically these sites are driven by their users - that is, users or members pick and bookmark the content they want to view and discuss.
These social bookmark sites are extremely popular; they command the high traffic numbers most ordinary sites can only dream about obtaining.
But is this social bookmark traffic useful?
Is it worth your time? Should you be actively promoting to these social media sites? Should you concentrate your online marketing efforts on these types of sites? More importantly, what are the benefits and disadvantages of getting a front page listing on a sites like Digg or Stumbleupon?
As a full-time online marketer I wanted to know the answers to those questions. Moreover, I wanted to discover how or if I could use these sites from an online marketer's advantage; i.e. how can they help me create more online income.
Recently, the Digg listing gave me a first-hand opportunity to really study these sites.
Of course, nothing happens without a reason... I did actually court these social bookmark sites by placing the free Addthis.com bookmark on all my pages. You can do the same. Just use this simple bookmark to attract these sites.
But be careful; getting your site featured on the front page of these sites can drive 100,000's of visitors to your site immediately, so much traffic that it may overtax your server and crash it.
So be warned; if you're actively promoting to these social bookmark sites just make sure your servers or web hosting is up to the demanding task of handling all these sudden visitors.
In my case, it didn't crash my servers but unfortunately, the page/link in question featured an old poorly written article I did on the history of the Internet. Why it was even featured on Digg is a puzzle and beyond me.
But still I am not one to waste an opportunity, so I put my Google Analytics into overdrive and starting analyzing these visitors and social bookmark traffic.
It pointed out some very interesting factors about this bookmark traffic.
Most of this traffic will:
simply bounce back
very few visitors will spend much time on your site
very few visitors will even venture into your site
very few will sign-up to your newsletter
very few will enter your marketing follow-ups/funnels
(The unknown variable here being the content on your site, how good it is? How well does it perform?)
Regardless, one common problem with traffic from these sites, it's very temporary traffic. The high volume will only last a few days... until your item is moved back from the front page.
These visitors will not stay on your site long and most are gone within seconds, never to be seen again. A few may sign up to your newsletter or venture to other areas of your site but not many.
Social bookmark traffic is very fleeting, like customers in the drive-thru section in a fast food restaurant, they grab the content and surf back to the major linking site very quickly and surf on to the next item.
This traffic will behave very differently than organic traffic from the search engines, or from your newsletter traffic or from traffic in your marketing funnels. Much different.
It was unlike getting one of my articles featured in Addme or SiteProNews, where I can easily get 200 or 300 new subscribers in a day. Plus, these visitors are interested in my information and have been exposed to my content (article) before coming to my site.
So there was no comparison; I would take the traffic from these sites any day over traffic from the social bookmark sites. And I would take free organic traffic from the search engines over any other source of traffic.
So the question remains - is social bookmark traffic useless?
First, as I mentioned before, you must realize no traffic is useless; any visitors to your site is a good thing. Without traffic your site is worthless, just a few files sitting on a server in the middle of nowhere.
Obtaining visitors is one of your first objectives as a webmaster. You must get visitors to your site or it's game over.
The best kind of traffic is traffic coming from organic search, visitors who come from the search engines seeking exactly what you're offering on your site. These are targeted visitors who will consider your offer, real your information, maybe buy a product or sign-up to your newsletter or follow-up system. They often become repeat visitors to your site. These are your ideal visitors. This is the kind of traffic you want.
Social bookmark/media traffic is different but it does have some saving graces.
Mainly it can help expose your site to millions and help brand your site or business. It can get the word out about your site. Start a buzz.
If you have a site that appeals to the mass market, then these social sites could be an excellent recruiting ground for visitors and traffic.
These social sites are good for another reason; getting your links on all these high traffic, high PR7 and PR8 sites can't hurt your search engine rankings. Once featured on a site like Digg, your link will appear on many secondary sites around the web, so far 500+ and counting. Monkey see, monkey do. Although it has never been my main ambition to get featured on Fark.com, all these sites do have high PR ranks so from a SEO standpoint it is not necessarily a bad thing.
Since many of these visitors will be using the Firefox browser which has the Alexa toolbar embedded - your site's traffic rank will increase. Over 50% of the bookmark traffic coming to my site were using the Firefox browser. Alexa's traffic rankings are not a true picture of the web's traffic but it's a good measuring stick, nonetheless.
Google might even consider it when ranking your site. Google basically considers their whole indexing system as a democratic voting structure... sites give a vote by linking to your content; wouldn't it also be reasonable to assume more traffic means more votes. So wouldn't getting a lot of traffic or being featured on a site like Digg where the users vote to propel the best content to the front be the ultimate vote.
One strange thing I did notice, for some reason the traffic from Stumbleupon was different. These visitors stayed longer on my site and reacted more like organic traffic. Maybe the Stumbleupon site is of a higher quality and this may have been reflected in the quality of the visitors coming from there. It also reminded me, all traffic from these social media sites can't be judged with the one brush.
This whole experience also pointed out another important factor; it made me realize how unsuited my content is for the general web surfer or the mainstream web. All my sites and content were planned and organized to first draw in targeted (warmed up) visitors from free organic search and from my online articles.
If I or anyone wanted to take advantage of this social media traffic, you would have to create your site/content to appeal to these surfers and then somehow draw them into your marketing funnels. I don't know if the majority of the users of these bookmark sites would make good prospects, but my guess is not very likely, the nature of the beast. But it would largely depend on what you're offering on your site and how well it is suited to these users.
So I am not drawing any conclusions yet.
Hopefully, I will have further chances to study traffic from these social sites and get the long-term effects, especially in regards to my keyword rankings in the search engines before making any final judgments.
For now I will keep an open mind but the jury is still way out whether or not social bookmark traffic is worth the interruption to the daily marketing tasks of your site. Just seems like much ado about nothing. Copyright (c) 2007 Titus Hoskins
Optimizing Adsense on a Forum/
Format is important for multiple ad units
Placing a skyscraper above the fold on the left side of your forum seems to produce slightly better performance than other positioning. However, when using multiple ad units throughout the page our horizontal bias still favors the leaderboard.
Display your ad units where repeat users will notice them
A leaderboard at the very top fits nicely next to the logo, but forum regulars tend to skip the header and go straight to the meat of the thread. Placing your ad unit above or below the first post can be more effective.
Place a leaderboard immediately after the last post
This provides users who make it to the end of a thread with a ‘next step’ when the content ends. If you place it after the footer, though, folks will move to the next thread before they even see the ad!
Use horizontal link units
Link units offer a wider range of relevant topics for users to browse. A horizontal unit can be placed near the top of your forum just below the header.
Opt-in to image ads
Supporting image ads increases the pool of ads –particularly cost-per-thousand-impression (CPM) ads – bidding to display on your site. Since forums tend to have lower click-through rates (CTRs) than other types of sites, CPM ads can improve revenue without the need for clicks. Please remember, however, that CPM ads come in both text and image formats.
Be sensitive to your forum community
Forums are highly interactive, so be sensitive to your users when implementing your AdSense ads. Be sure to blend the ads nicely, so they don’t appear overly intrusive – but don’t blend them so well they mislead your users! Every forum site is different and you know your community best, so as always use your own judgment to create the most positive experience for your users.
6 Easy Ways to Increase your Adsense Revenue
Recently there has been a lot of discussion about people who earn over $10,000 a month just from Adsense. Furthermore, there are rumors of a few individuals who earn over $1 million a year just from using the power of Google advertisements.
So what is Google Adsense and how can you use this program to earn a six-figure income?
About two years ago, Google created this program to help websites to monetize their web-traffic.
Here's how it works:
Webmasters obtain a special code from Google which then displays targeted ads on their website. Whenever a visitor clicks on one of these ads, the webmaster earns a commission. Unlike other online businesses, there is no selling involved. All you need to do is get people to click on the ads.
Although this is an excellent way to generate an income, many websites are not effectively maximizing their Adsense potential. As a result, they are leaving a lot of cash on the table.
The question is how can you increase your Adsense revenue without increasing the number of web visitors?
The key to earning an income with Google Adsense is to have your ads match the rest of the site, making them look like part of your content. Your focus is to avoid having the Adsense blocks look like blatant advertisements.
The following are six ways that you can do this and increase your revenue at the same time:
1) Find the right place- Most website visitors read content that is in the middle of a webpage. As a result, the best place to put your Adsense block is in the top part of the page, at the beginning of your web content. You want to weave the Google Ads into your web content to give the appearance that they are extra links which expand on the information of the page.
2) Use the Large Rectangle-With Google Adsense, you have the option of picking different ad formats. Most of the time people opt to use the Leaderboard (728x90) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600) style ads. Unfortunately, this is the wrong choice, because both look like blatant advertisements. Instead smart webmasters have found that using the Large Rectangle (336x280) yields the best amount of click-thrus.
3) Ditch the border- Many people experience a sharp increase in Adsense revenue when they changing their border. What they change is very simple…they get rid of the border on their Adsense blocks. This is another way to make the advertisements look like useful web content.
4) Adapt the font- Whenever you write content, it should be the same font size and style as your Google Adsense block. This will help make it appear that the advertisements are a natural part of your website.
5) Match the colors- In addition to changing the fonts, you also should match the colors of your website. For instance, if your content is written in black, and your hyperlinks are blue, then the Adsense blocks should also be the same color. Again, this helps the advertisements appear to be normal web content.
6) Don't have too many distractions- On a webpage, it is important to give web visitor a limited number of options. By having too many links and graphics, the web visitor might go to a section that doesn't help increase your profits. While it is important to inform and entertain your web visitor, it is also vital that you monetize your site. So if the main focus of your site is to earn an income through Google Adsense, then get rid of all non-essential links and graphics.
By taking the time to implement these six simple steps, you'll see a dramatic increase in the click-thru ratio of your ads. If added to all of the content of your site, your Adsense income will skyrocket!
Googles Own AdSense Tips
What's fascinating to me is that apparently not everyone bothers to read their tips. And even some that do, fail to apply it.
That said, you need to be aware that simply using their tips doesn't guarantee successful ads and decent CTR (Click Through Rate). How many times have you heard this? You have to test. You have to try alternatives and see what really works best for you, on your pages, with your content and your visitors. Test, test, test some more. Track your results, analyze them, try variations. Too many of us don't test. We hear the mantra, but we don't do the work.
First, let's see if we can get an idea about location. (The graphic is included in the article on my site or you can take a look at it at the Google link included below) Generally, above the fold, at the top center of your content, below top navigation is the hottest location. Not immediately below which is good but not quite as hot. In a left sidebar, to the immediate left of primary content or below the primary content are also good. Most other locations are generally cooler.
Again, you need to test and you need to consider your users behavior - and their behavior may vary on different pages with different kinds of content. Google suggests that in some cases, such as articles, the best location can be at the end of the article. To quote Google, "It's almost as if users finish reading and ask themselves, What can I do next?" Well targeted relevant ads right there can provide the answer.
Don't blindly assume that sticking a nice big rectangle in the center above the fold will do it. It may, but depending on your content, it may annoy or inconvenience your users.
Users tend to focus on content, navigation and to a lesser extent graphics. Positioning your ads near these elements will often work well -- if those ads are targeted to your visitors needs.
The top three performers among the Google ad formats are the 336X280 large rectangle, the 300X250 inline rectangle and the 160X600 wide skyscraper. Google reports that the wider formats tend to do better than the taller ones. One reason may be that these are, perhaps, easier to read since they have fewer line breaks and require less eye movement. But, you need to use formats that fit your pages well. Once again, you need to test, but redoing your pages to suit a particular ad format may not be a reasonable alternative and you may discover that a different format actually gets better results.
Now we come to color. Conventional wisdom says that colors which tend to blend into your content do better. Some go so far as to suggest that colors which make the ads look like part of the content are best. Personally, I think anybody really believes those ads are anything but ads, but who knows. Google suggests that you may find that colors that standout from your content do better - or maybe the opposite. This is absolutely an area where you need to test alternative color schemes. Going with the conventional wisdom usually works fairly well, but without testing you could be leaving a lot of money on the table.
Google allows you to have up to three ad units and one link unit on your pages. If you have long pages with lots of text, can only use small ad units or are in a niche with a large ad inventory, multiple units can pay off. Keep in mind that the way ad serving works is that the higher value ads are delivered to the first ad unit block encountered in your code. Always make sure that this first ad unit is displayed in the best location (yeah - test). You want the higher paying ads to be in the prime hot location on your page. Weaker locations can get the lower priced ads. And if none are available, then nothing will display unless you've included an alternate ad URL in your Google code. To maximize monetization you should be including alternate ad URLs, especially if you are putting multiple units on a page. The use of an alternate ad URL also eliminates the possibility of being served PSAs (Public Service Announcements). It's your real estate, maximize your returns.
Nothing here is secret. Except for using the alternate ad URL, all of this information is available from Google's Optimization Tips page - http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=tips.html . You can buy books and courses, visit a dozen forums and, in the end it comes down to what your visitors do on your site. The best you can get is general guidance. This means averaged outcomes over many sites, many types of content. If you are serious about doing whatever you can to really optimize your AdSense returns, there is only one thing to do - test. Whether it's AdSense, opt-ins, copy, headlines - anything with a measurable outcome that you can track - then the way to improve is to test and keep on testing.

How To Create A Great Landing Page For Your Website
Your visitor, who happens to be a very busy individual, is not very likely to stay for more than a minute if you fail to capture his attention once he lands on your website. When your visitor lands on your page, he or she is likely to have the thought “What is in it for me?” You must be able to capture his or her attention on what is immediately visible before he or spends more time browsing your website.
So what information you put above the fold is crucial. Above the fold means what appears on the screen in the browser, without the need for your visitor to scroll down or to the right of your sales page.
Here are 6 easy ways to create and improve on your landing page:
1. Consider having an opt-in box or box to capture your visitor’s email contact on the entry page.
It is recommended to have an opt-in box at all cost. Statistics show that your online customer needs to visit your website at least 7 times of exposure before he or she purchases anything. Therefore, your single most important job is to capture his or her contact information. You can then maintain email contact and remind him or her to visit your website again.
2. Make your opt-in box visible. Some examples on how to make it visible include:
Choose a background colour for the subscription box to make it stand out. You are in fact, creating a visual to draw your visitor’s eyes to the opt-in box.
Placement of the subscription box should be preferably above the fold or in a pop-up. However, do note that more recently, the latter (pop-up) option has proven to be less effective in getting opt-ins due to over-usage by website owners.
Offer a freebie to get your opt-in and spell out this freebie clearly near the subscription box. This makes it easier for the visitor to mentally connect the freebie to opting in.
3. Have a killer headline. The headline must promise the single most important benefit to your visitor. Use killer words for instance like amazing, breakthrough, instantly and finally, and make your headline stand out with a bigger font or bolding it.
4. Also, pay special attention to the top few lines following the headline and those that appear above the fold. I suggest that you try having 2 or 3 sub-benefits as your top few sentences, after your killer headline.
5. Use images that help. One example is to include your own photo if you are branding yourself as an expert in a particular niche.
6. Avoid using excessively large image files. I have seen a couple of websites that put in too many images on their landing page and as it took forever to load, I left without waiting.
After creating your landing page, you must continue to keep testing and improving it. It can be changing your killer headlines, the background colour of your opt-in box or even the banner image that you put right at the top. I change my landing page every once in a while, to track responses. I hope you do too!
The Death of Google Adsense And Other Myths
What happened?
First, Google made a change in its Adsense program, letting advertisers choose between putting their ads in the search results or on the content pages of Adsense publishers. Search won out and started to receive the higher bids. Search results convert better than content ads.
Next, Google has cracked down on Junk Adsense sites, like they should. These sites consisted mainly of software generated re-hashed search engine links and were totally annoying to say the least. But Google also cracked down on 'squeeze pages' or 'affiliate landing pages' - a lucrative source of income for many online marketers, mainly because these pages helped marketers build an opt-in list or use permission based email.
The results of these changes produced an Adsense meltdown for many online marketers.
Some Internet marketers are speculating recent changes could even mean the death of Adsense. One online marketer, Scott Boulch even published a free report entitled 'The Death of Adsense".
Many affiliate marketers would agree with Boulch on some of his points, especially the obvious fact that using Adsense on your web content is starting on the bottom rung of the online marketing ladder. Instead of receiving pennies per click with Adsense, alert marketers and webmasters have already discovered that by using CPA (Cost-Per-Action) and direct affiliate links, they can produce significantly more revenue from their web pages. Why earn pennies per click when you can earn $5, $10 or OVER $100 per click?
But the fine people at Google are catching on...
In the past Google has made its own swing to the Cost-Per-Action direction with its referral system for the Firefox Browser and giving webmasters credit for signing up Adwords and Adsense accounts.
Many online marketers believe Google needs to expand on these baby steps and open their Adsense affiliate program up to third party products/advertisers. In a recent company statement Google offered some hope: "We're always looking for new ways to provide effective and useful features to advertisers, publishers, and users," the company stated "As part of these efforts we are currently testing a cost-per-action (CPA) pricing model to give advertisers more flexibility and provide publishers another way to earn revenue through AdSense." Basically, in cost-per-action, advertisers pay for leads, purchases or customer acquisition. It would help with the click fraud issue and the monetary returns could potentially make Adsense's revenues pale in comparison.
As more and more commerce goes online... acquiring customers for such diverse services as insurance, real estate, telephone, marketing, web hosting, travel, mortgage loans, cable TV, banking... you name it, almost any service or product sold in the marketplace is now turning to the Internet for customers and lifelong clients.
Enormous sums of money will change hands. Perhaps, the most lucrative of these is customer acquisition. Advertisers are turning to the Internet and webmasters/marketers for acquiring these lifelong customers for their respective services and products. Businesses and companies are quickly realizing paying an attractive lead generating fee/commission is smart business. They quickly build a client base for their services or products and quickly recoup their expenses - realizing in the long run these leads will generate huge profits.
It can also mean huge profits for the CPA networks like ValueClick's Commission Junction and Rakuten's LinkShare who supply the advertisers with publishers and website marketers to harvest these leads. It can be a lucrative venture for all involved, especially for those online marketers who have cornered the search engines for lucrative niche markets in big ticket items. Even small ticket items pay quite well for those marketers who know how to market online.
Contextual advertising is fine, but CPA (Cost-Per-Action) will offer much better returns for the website owner. Making any profitable site much more profitable. It will and is opening up a whole area of marketing opportunities that never existed before we had the Internet. Creating a complex structure of advertisers, publishers and the Affiliate/CPA companies that connect the two.
Of course, cutting out the middle man has always been even a more profitable venture for most marketers. As more and more webmasters realize they can make much more with dealing directly with companies, rather than going through a middle process like Google Adsense or the countless other affiliate/CPA networks ... online marketers can reap even bigger rewards.
For an online marketer when you get a phone call or email from the CEO or the affiliate manager with a company or service you're promoting with your website - you know you have made it! Dealing directly with a company usually means bigger commissions and special exclusive deals just for you or your sites.
Only fly in the ointment, all that extra paperwork and business wheeling and dealing. Many marketers and website owners like the idea of someone else handling all the tracking, collecting payments, promotional materials... they just like to sit back and build more websites and content. It gives the affiliate marketer a lifestyle that they are looking for on the web. They just like to market and promote with their sites and let someone else worry about the details. Therefore, there will always be a place for contextual ads like Google Adsense... "Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated."
However, could CPA be a better alternative for the current Adsense contextual ads?
Google would be the natural choice for a middleman if there ever was one. Besides, many savvy marketers know the Google brand name is trusted online, any product/service promoted through Google would be an easy sell. Many argue Google already dominates the web, why should it not be the one to handle these CPA transactions through its Adsense program.
On the flip side, over countless updates and changes to its indexing, many webmasters have experienced more than a few negative dealings with Google. Many have won, many have lost in this Google Age, but all have realized riding the Google Search Engine is like running with the bulls at Pamplona, totally thrilling unless you're one of the unfortunate few who get trampled in the process.
10 Adsense Tips for Maximum Click Through Rates
2) Text ads are better than image ads. Like before, people are more responsive to text than images. In a way it is considered as a part of the online document and is more clickable.
3) No Border ads. One of the best tricks is to erase the borders of Adsense ads and make them again having the same color with your website's background.
Article Tip Want more advice on earning money from AdSense? Check out Adsense Secrets, the web's best guide on making over $10,000/month from Google AdSense.
4) No other advertisements. The first reason is to be legitimate according to Google's Rules and the second more practical reason is that you do not want to distract your visitor's attention and go somewhere else without clicking your Adsense ads.
5) Placement. Even if you have the best Ad, people will not respond if they don't see it instantly. The best place to see the ad is the top of your web page and the next is aside your document's text. Visitors will click it more frequently since it will look like your text.
6) Traffic. Try to use legitimate ways of traffic. Some people use Google Adwords and other Pay per Click search engines. The problem here is to search very carefully for the right niche and keywords in order to make your campaigns profitable. Other ways is link popularity techniques like link exchange directories, software or even mass blog submission techniques. Don't use link farms and classifieds for that, because search engine's algorithms are extremely clever and they will ban your listings.
7) Do not rely on one website. Yes you can make money with one website but try to make as more as possible.
8) Relevant content is King. Articles are one of the best tactics to create huge websites that will be crawled by search engine's robots. Don't forget search engines exist to provide relevant content at first. One excellent resource to automate your article directory procedure is http://www.articleequalizer.com .You can create an article database in minutes which otherwise is time consuming and it would take you a week!
9) Use site maps. Google's site maps visit your site and crawl it much sooner that any other submission process. More information is here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps
10) Relevant ads. It's one of the most important factors for Adsense success. If the internet user can't find relevant ad in your page he or she won't click the ad. Would you act differently? So it's critical to create relevant resource for your web page. In order to do that, you must do the following steps.
First the file must be saved with the appropriate name for example: Golf-Secrets.html if your article is about golf. So the webpage will be: www.yoursitesname.com/Golf-Secrets.html
Second thing you must change is your title tag. For example:
Third is the heading. The first sentence must have this heading: 12 Golf secrets
12 Essential Tips To A Professional Business Website
1. Choose a big enough font size. A size 12 is good for easy readability.
2. Maintain a consistent look on your pages. Use the same fonts, navigation bar, general layout, colour scheme, etc. You want to create a “congruous” experience for your visitor by being consistent.
3. Break the content of your landing webpage into more than one table. Many make the mistake of putting all their content into one table. This may take forever to load.
Try putting just your headlines into a separate table right on the top, with the rest of your content in a second table that follows. So when your visitor arrives on the landing page, the table with the headlines will come on first.
Note that this trick does not reduce the size of your file as a whole or make your entire sales content load faster. It just creates the illusion of this happening. Your visitor can at least take a couple of seconds to read the first table of headlines while the second content-rich table loads. After scanning through the top headlines, the second table is ready for him or her to continue reading.
4. It is preferable to have a white or light coloured background. Black text on such a background stands out better.
5. Have lots of white space on your sales letter. Don’t clutter up your page with too much information and images. You want your pages to go easy on the eyes.
6. Do not have too many unnecessary graphics on your website. This is especially if their file sizes are too big. You don’t want to risk losing a potential but impatient visitor to your website.
7. Don’t “bold” large chunks of your text. Bold and italic should be used for highlighting and for drawing special attention.
8. Do not underline text that does not point to a link. It can be misleading to your visitor who may wonder why the link is broken or not working.
9. Use the standard blue underlined link look. Avoid changing the link colour. Don’t introduce confusion to your online visitors!
10. It is useful to include links back to your home page on all your pages. Your first time visitor may have arrived at one of your sub-pages, other than your home page. Make it easy for them to link back to your all important sales page (home page).
11. Always check to ensure that you have no broken or outdated links. Get your friends to feedback to you when they should discover any one of these and make amendments immediately.
12. Don’t put “under construction” signs on a page. If it’s not finished, do not publicise it or make it accessible.
Why Ugly Sites Sell More Than Pretty Sites
Don't get me wrong, some of these graphics are truly amazing - I love to see them! But, that's the problem! I only love to look at them, when I'm done looking at them, I LEAVE! Lately, there's been a disturbing trend of everyone spending huge amounts of money on web graphics. The problem? There is NO proof that this really helps your sales!
As a matter of fact, one of my biggest money makers is a consulting service...
www.SingalMarketing.com/consultingte.html
...I put that page up in 5 minutes (after writing my copy). Believe it or not, but even being such a high priced service - that page converts about 2.5% - of course I get very targeted traffic...
LOOK AT HOW UGLY IT IS!!!
BUT, it has content! It has great copy, it's got my face, my voice and a great service - the ACTUAL key ingredients to making a website that sells...Now, the problem is that most people are very logical - you would THINK that a good looking site should sell more - it makes sense right?
You expect that a good looking site probably increases your credibility - I mean, come on, it shows your visitor that you REALLY mean business, yadda yadda yadda...But, again, look at MY site - I'm selling a high priced consulting service to business owners - I'm actually selling my expertise in the internet business world. Yet, the site design (or lack there of) seems to have NO influence.
Just so you know, I DID try a nice fancy design for that page. You want to know what happened to my conversion? It plummeted down to 1.4%! Now, that I've got your attention, let's look at why it is that a prettier site probably sells less:
1. More graphics take longer to load.
Not everyone has fast internet yet - actually, most people don't. No one wants to wait for hours for a site to upload!
2. More graphics distract your visitors from your message.
Your graphics can actually work against you because your visitors spend more time focusing on them than they do focusing on your copy! Remember, it's your COPY that sells - so if the visitor isn't reading the copy - he/she is NOT going to buy. Period.
3. Some visitors may not like the colors, you may be sending the wrong message to different cultures.
Just because YOU love the colors of your graphics and you love the color scheme of your website does NOT mean that your visitors do too. There it is, those are the three MAIN reasons to keep your website AS neutral AS possible.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, remember, PRETTY does NOT always equal more sales!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ugly sites DO sell and will continue to do so. What matters is what you're selling, your own expertise, and your copy writing. In the end, the best way to know what works best for your visitors is to TEST, TEST, and TEST some more!

How to earn more with adsense
Some clicks are worth higher than others depending on the "keyword" that the ad is targetting. What does this mean? Google AdSense are "contextual based" ads, meaning that they display the links for people to click on based on the context of your website.
For example if you have a website about "tennis" then the ads Google AdSense will display will be all about tennis. So if the text on your site that Google is basing their AdSense ads on is for "tennis balls", then the keyword phrase "tennis balls" may be paying higher per click than "tennis racket".
Here are a few tips to get better earnings with Google AdSense:
1. Don't make your ads look like ads! People are so "banner blind" now that they'll skim right over your AdSense ads if you make them look too much like actual ads. By removing the background and the border of your ads and making them blend in with your own site's background, it will help your sales tremendously!
2. Don't click your own links! It may be tempting to earn that potential .03 for yourself but in the long run it's not worth it! Google has ways to detect "click fraud" and you WILL get caught and you'll forfeit all of your earnings thus far.
3. Put your ads close to your content! Don't put your content way up at the top and then put your AdSense ads waaaay down at the bottom. You won't get very many click throughs. Make sure your web content is actually integrated with your ads.
4. Have relevant keywords on your site! If your site is about "web site traffic" and you just keep mentioning the word "traffic" by itself, your Google AdSense ads may display ads for rush hour traffic, or traffic jams. Which has nothing to do with your website. Keep your ads relevant by giving your content good, thorough keywords.
If you just apply these simply and effective tips, you WILL see an increase in your Google AdSense revenue! While it's best not to put all your eggs in one basket and have AdSense as your only income earner, it is definitely a good way to make a nice little supplemental income on your website!
Where To Buy Adsense Keyword List
Its all in the keywords.
Imagine if you had a list of keywords that showed what advertisers are paying for each keyword. Would that help you establish what products to offer? Would that help you as a publisher? Absolutely!
Its all in the keywords: What to sell?
If you know that advertisers are paying top dollar in their pay per click campaigns for 'blue widgets', it stands to reason that either there is good money to be made selling them, or they are a popular product. If you have a website that is receiving traffic, this will help you to either expand your product offerings, or, to place more focus on an existing product that compliments 'blue widgets'.
Its all in the keywords: Adsense keyword lists
Most of us are Adsense publishers. Its a great way to monetize your website. You place the Adsense code, create some useful content, and people will click on your ads. Its that easy.
However, how do you increase Adsense revenue? Easier still: buy an Adsense keyword list. Adsense Heaven (http://www.Adsenseheaven.com) updates their keyword lists monthly and provides its customers with a comprehensive list of keywords that allow publishers to target their content around the higher paying keywords.
The key to making money from an Adsense keyword list is to make sure that your content is optimized for those keywords, and, most importantly, it gets the visitor interested in finding out more information about that topic. If the visitor loses interest, they are looking elsewhere. If they are interested, they will click!
Also, look for Adsense keywords that compliment your content. While insurance keywords pay out a lot, there is a lot of competition. Unless you have a lot of traffic coming to your site, you're unlikely to gain much by adding keywords about insurance. However, what if you added a life insurance section to a site for newborn parents? Your visitors looking for info about newborns may be prompted to reassess their life insurance needs. Who better to assist them further than your advertisers!
So, where to buy Adsense keyword lists? Adsense Heaven should be your first stop. Their Top 5000 Adsense Keyword lists provide users with a great snapshot of useful keywords. The site also provides lists up to the Top 40 000 Adsense Keywords, and can even create a customized keywords list tailored to the needs of your site. If you are looking for effective keywords, this is the place to look!

Everything You Need to Know to Make Money Blogging
OUTLINE:
Are you blogging for fun or profit? I think most of us would agree that we love blogging, but we also want to turn a profit. Well, there’s two key steps to this. First of all you need to make sure you have an Adsense account. Second you MUST create a pay pal account too. Many companies offer pay pal perks that you will not receive if you have not created an account.
Once you have these basic steps completed it is time to get down to business.
COMPANIES THAT WORK WITH GOOGLE ADSENSE
There are several companies that work directly w/ Google Adsense. Once your account has been created you can use your same publisher id. Since all of these companies are Google affiliates you can re-post your blogs with all of them.
1. www.associateprograms.com - Add your link for free FREE. This company can actually work with your Adsense account.
2. http://www.Articlewise.com - Similar to bloggerparty.
3. http://www.Blogevolve.com - Also similar to bloggerparty. Newer site with less registered users but it has some excellent bloggers. Many bloggerparty citizens have all ready began posting blogs there.
4.http://www.blogcharm.com - Ok site. Easy to copy articles. Descent amount of authors and readers. Pay is substantially less than bloggerparty.
5. http://www.writingup.com– I am very skeptical of this site. I have had numerous problems with them. Some bloggers like working with Writingup, but there has been numerous rumors of illegal traffic exchanges going on here. I don’t want to risk having my Adsense account banned so I tend to stay away from sites like this.
6.http://bloggeryparty.com - excellent site.
63+ Secrets to Blog PROMOTION
Just posting at one site alone is not enough to promote your blog. Top bloggers have massive readership because they got their name known by promoting. Blog promoting isn’t hard, it just takes time and effort. Here’s 63 places you can easily submit your blog to:
1. Myspace “The Untapped Market” I FINALLY decided to make a myspace page. I was completely against the idea because I have heard so many terrible things about myspace. BUT I used myspace to directly link to my bloggerparty blogs (thanks for the tip myspaceoryours). I think it has been a success and I just created myspace a few days ago. My Adsense has all ready gone up.
This is what I did:
I post half of my daily blog on it. I then create a link to Bloggerparty, forcing the reader to go to this site if they want to "Read the rest of this article & comment".
Thus far, I have had 63 page views. That’s not bad for 3 days and a brand new account!
If you want to check out what I did or create your own account here's my profile:
I think if more bloggers do this we will be able to get tons more traffic and lots more clicks! You have to remember, as I mentioned in a response to one of cashads postings; traffic is traffic. It doesn't matter who is getting it. As long as readers end up on this site WE ALL have a chance of making money!
And if you're worried about the "myspace" dangers, just don't post any info that you're uncomfortable with. It allows you to submit whatever info YOU want. You don't have to put in your city, name, D.O.B, etc. I still am writing under Realitycheck.
If you have a myspace account please reply to this blog with your url. That way other people can link to you if they want.
2. http://tehblogfather.blogspot.com How it works:
A) Find a joke, quote or piece of tech/political news to tell Teh Blog Father.
B) Briefly describe your blog or a single post on your blog.
C.) Submit the above using the blog submission link near the top of this blog.
Here are the benefits:
1. It costs Zero. Nein. Non. Nada. Zilch.
2. It's easier and faster than surfing for credits.
3. You don't need to sign up for anything extra.
4. We all get entertained by jokes, inspired by quotes, educated with facts, and informed with news - all in one place!
3. http://www.picoposter.com/bloggers.php- Blogs containing advertising (e.g. Google Ads, etc) and product reviews, will be accepted as personal blogs. No charge ! Periodically we will publish lists of the most popular blogs that people have found via our site. Yours could be in the top 10!
Want to add PicoPoster to your blog? Get a code then just copy & paste into your “About Me” section of your profile. This will create a roll bar for the company.:
<a href="http://www.picoposter.com/" target="_blank" title="PicoPoster.com - Blog Marketing"><img src="http://www.picoposter.com/getaffiliateimage.php" width="88" height="31" border="0" alt="PicoPoster.com - Blog Marketing"></a>

RSS SEARCH DIRECTORIES[/b]
RSS allows you to broadcast your content to a wider audience than those that reach your home page.
When you update your blog, your blog software updates a simple text file formatted in XML. This is your RSS file. Your blog produces a link to this RSS file and together the make your RSS feed. The RSS file contains your blog content updates. As you update your blog content, your RSS file is updated to reflect those changes. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. To keep things you should realize that RSS is a standard for content subscription and distribution.
Here's a list of places you need to submit to:
Feed-Directory.com http://www.feed-directory.com/
FeedSyndicator.com http://www.feedsyndicator.com/
My RSS Creator http://www.myrsscreator.com/
RSS2WAP.com http://www.rss2wap.com/
Another tip: Figure out what the basis for your blog is: Parenting, Science, Debates, etc. Then do a search on the net for “Parenting Blogs” or “Parenting Blogging Sites”. You will find tons of alternate way to promote to your difined audience.
[b]Get in good with the “PINGS”[/b]
According to http://blogforfunandprofit.blogware.com/blog/HowToBlog101/_archives/2004/12/15/206584.html , you will need to “Ping! Ping! Ping! I believe in pings and I go the extra mile to ping by not just relying solely on blog software pings. Blog software pings other update servers like weblogs.com to announce your content updates. Search engines like Google and RSS/Blog directories like Technorati, BlogDigger and PubSub check these update servers for the latest content updates.
This one big reason why your content gets into Google so quickly using a blog. What? You didn't know that? Oh yes and this is awesome. Blogs are indeed SEO power tools. I've seen it take as little as a day to get content in Google using a blog. But on average, your content will take mere hours to just a few days to get into Google. The RSS and blog search engines like BlogDigger will index your blog content in mere minutes!.
Your blog software will normally and automatically ping http://www.weblogs.com and http://www.blo.gs by default. You may need to turn this on so check with your blog software for instructions. When you turn ping on it works in the background. Every time you publish content it will automatically send ping updates. A companion tool that is a must use is Ping-O-Matic. Ping-O-Matic allows you to enter the title and RSS feed URL of your blog and it will ping a larger group of major ping update servers...all at once. Very nice tool. Sure, it's a manual process but well worth it.
Also, be sure to use Pingoat (http://pingoat.com/ ). This will update your blog in three seconds with all the previous sites. BUT if you have not listed with the sites mentioned it is a lost cause! So take the time to register it!
TRAFFIC EXCHANGE: Myths & truth
Thers’a big difference between traffic exchange and ILLEGAL traffic exchange. Traffic is good. You need to network. This is done by providing links and using other sites as resources. Illegal traffic exchange is done by companies that tell you to click on ads and in return someone else will click your ads. If you do that your account will be banned.
If you want to look at some real ways to get traffic check out this site: http://weblogs.about.com/od/blogtrafficexchange/
Remember, traffic does not mean clicks. LEGAL traffic means that people will VISIT your writings. You may get clicks, you may not. It depends on what you have to offer. DO NOT EVER sign up for any site that promises revenue, this means the site is illegal.
If You DO get banned from Adsense it is permenent. This is a copy of the letter you will get (I found it on the net I HIGHLY SUGGEST READING IT!!!!):
Hello Anthony,
It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated
on the ads on your web pages. We have therefore disabled your Google
AdSense account. Please understand that this step was taken in an
effort to protect the interest of the AdWords advertisers.
A publisher's site may not have invalid clicks on any ad(s), including
but not limited to clicks generated by a publisher on his own web
pages, clicks generated through the use of robots, automated clicking
tools, or any other deceptive software.
Practices such as these are in violation of the Google AdSense Terms
and Conditions and program polices, which can be viewed at:
In furry, I had about 340 Dollars US sitting in my Adsense Account, my first reaction was, W.T.F.
So, I emailed them again,
QUOTE
Hello, I have no knowledge of me generating any clicks on my own,
clicks through robots, automated clicking tools, or any other
deceptive software.I have been using this program with respect and
followed the Google Terms and Conditions.
If I have reached any steps with may have to do with invalid clicks, I
would like to know in detail what I may have done to result to this.
But in the current state of things, I would like you to review my
status and enable the Adsense program again.
Sincerely,
Anthony
And they merely replied:
Hello Anthony,
Thank you for your email.
QUOTE
By disabling your account, we feel that we have taken the necessary
measures to ensure that invalid clicks will not continue to occur on your
site.
We understand that you wish to receive specific information regarding the
invalid clicks we have observed. Due to the proprietary nature of our
monitoring system, we cannot disclose any specific details of these
clicks. We would like to reassure you, however, that we have thoroughly
re-reviewed your account data upon receipt of your response and have
reconfirmed that invalid clicks were generated on the ads on your site.
According to our policy on this matter, we have disabled your account in
order to protect our advertisers.
As outlined in our program Terms and Conditions, Google reserves the right
to terminate any publisher's participation at any time.
Sincerely,
The Google Team
Now, clearly you can learn from this lesson that Google watches your account VERY closely, and if they notice that there's something "fishy" going on with your account, they say "Bye Bye" to your account. I still insist till today that I never did anything against the Google Rules and TOS. So, If you suddenly have a jump in the number of Clicks that you get, you might just get screwed over by Google. That's why you always want a steady stream of visitors, or else, you'll risk having your account suspended, like what happened to me.
MAKE MONEY WITH THE ARTICLES YOU ALL READY WROTE:
1. Wise Orb.mom - A brand new site called Wise Orb is looking for bloggers. The concept is similar to that of bloggerparty.
GREAT NEWS:
Don't wait to make $100! You can request any payment over $5! The downside is that Admin will take a 20% fee for all pay requests under a hundred dollars, but, in my opinion, that's better than having to wait.
So definitely check this link out and sign up! I didn't see anything in the "rules" about having to post exclusive content either.
http://www.wiseorb.com/SignIn.asp
2. Also Check out ASSOCIATED CONTENT: http://www.associatedcontent.com - Associated content has it’s ups and downs. AC is a good site with QUALITY content. You have to go through a semi-lengthy process to submit work, but it does pay big. AC employees take their time responding to your submissions, but it’s worth it. An average article will cash out between $3 - $12, depending on content. If you submit a well researched piece for exclusive rights (meaning you can NOT repost it) you will probably receive the higer pay out. I submit my works for non exclusive rights, meaning I can repost them as I like. I usually write a piece for bloggerparty then submit it to AC if it’s good. I get about $3 - $5 each. Not bad considering I am profiting from BP and my other blogging sources.
3. http://www.blish.com - this site is for buying and selling content. I have not tried it but it has been a reccomendation of several other bloggers
BLOGGING 4 DOLLARS:
Write content that pays B-I-G! Find out Right Now what all your blogs are worth!
With all this talk of buying Keyword Lists and “what pays the highest” I figured now would be a great time to post this info!
There’s a company called BidOverature that has a FREE source that allows you to find out what every keyword is worth. Simply type in your keyword and it will show you the highest bidder!
I have used this numerous times and what I have discovered is that advertisers pay more than “random searches”. For example, if you search for “Beer”, you will discover that it only pays 10 cents. But refine your search to a particular beer, lets say, “Miller Light” and you’ve got yourself a dollar.
I was actually surprised at my findings. Many of the keywords that I thought would be worth a lot were worth 10 cents, while on the other hand, “Diet” is worth $1.50.
Check it out for yourself:
[url]http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/USm/search/tools/bidtool/[/url]
ADDITIONAL EARNINGS FROM BLOGGERPARTY
Basically this is what it boils down to; You can have 900 reads for a single blog and make nothing from it. The reason for this is because the reads are coming from members and guests of bloggerparty not from clicks. However we are also getting reads from Reddit and Digg.
Is there any way to improve your number of clicks? Yes. Brenda suggests networking with fellow sites. Sign up for Blogcharm, Writingup and any other site that you can use to promote your writing. You can even find a place like 50megs.com and easily create your own web page to promote your work. This site is incredibly easy to use. You don’t have to pay any hosting fees either.
Another really important thing mentioned was forming relationships with readers. Make sure you do post daily. Comment on other blogs. Link to other works. Most of all have respect for other authors. People that come to bloggerparty to bash other blogs are not well liked. If you are like this you will have no fan base you probably won’t be successful.
One thing I’d like to mention for the new comers is that it truly does take a while to get reads. It also takes a while to begin earning. I think I didn’t make a penny for my first 30 days.
By continuing to post your blogs you are gaining readership. No matter what style of writing you have there is people that will like it and come to check it out. This may seem useless right now but it will pay off in the future.
Lastly,
Brenda did mention that she is working on making other ways to make money here besides through AdSense. There will be new ways to earn from bloggerparty coming soon! So stay hopeful. Anyone who has been with bloggerparty since it started realizes the great changes that have been made. Admin is really working to make this site perfect but this does take time.

Another option is to get commissions of of sales made through your links. Some companies who use this program offer $20 + for every sale. You will also be able to CHOOSE your ads! This is very beneficial. For example, if you decide to write a blog on GAMBLING you can post ads for gambling companies. This will get you many more clicks than random ads will.
And another perk is that you can list your bloggerparty address for free (promotion!). If you have time try to check it out. There's no cost to sign up and they pay by check or pay pal. You can cash out your earnings PENALTY FREE at ANYTIME!!!!
When you sign up you'll have to fill out a quick W2 Form, just like w/ Adsense. You will then be emailed your own referral code and you'll be granted access to a list of 1,000's of companies you can "work" for. This list also tells you what each company pays and their policies. I signed up for several companies that offer referral, click through and % of sales. That's a damn good deal. You have no obligation to the companies and can remove their ads any time you like.
Once you receive your referral code:
Simply paste your own referral code into your "About Me" section. Or paste it directly into your blog.
